Information Design Conference 2007
Information Design Conferences are always organised to bring
together a diverse group of practitioners and researchers,
concerned with informations usability and usefulness.
This year our programme included presentations from nine countries
in Europe and Asia, North and South America. About 120 people
from 20 countries attended.
Several themes emerged, including:
- Wayfinding and signing
- Heath information & food labelling
- Interactive systems and instructions
- Designing communication in a regulatory environment
- Design models, theories & techniques
There were eighteen lecture presentations, plus a number of
poster-exhibitions, displays and demonstrations.
View a list of these and download a printable programme from our
programme page.
Early reports
Immediately following the conference, Karel van der Waarde,
Dave Crossland and Conrad Taylor put together a
short report,
with photographs.
Another report, with more detail and reflections on
selected posters as well as presentations, is on
Caroline
Jarretts blog.
Conference outputs
We did not make it a condition of participation in the
conference that our presenters deliver publishable papers.
This was to encourage participation from the design industry,
and presentation of work in progress.
In time, we hope to add papers in PDF format to this site,
and also to post slide-shows. Most of the presentations
were audio recorded, and may be posted as downloadable
audio files, perhaps synchronised with slides.
Other goodies
For the amusement of conference delegates, Conrad Taylor
wrote a 12-page illustrated history
of Greenwich, the Thames and East London.
